Tuning Classes

We are proud to present the following classes for NCRC Atlanta 2007!

Introduction To The SMARTER Reyburn CyberTuner and Pocket RCT
Instructor:  Dean Reyburn
Level:  All

In this class we will demonstrate how to use RCT's improved analysis
of a piano's inharmonicity. This creates smoother transitions at the
breaks and better fine tunings. We will explore quick and accurate
pitch raises. We will examine the convergence of our ear's aural
preferences with a machine's digital decision making.

The Finest Custom Tunings With Aural / SAT III Method
Instructor:  Paul Sanderson
Level:  All

The SAT III has capabilities that make it easier than ever to customize your tunings to fit pianos exactly. The Double-Octave Beat (DOB) control, new on the SAT III, is very popular for working with aural tests to adjust for octave- and double-octave stretch painlessly on the fly. The usual methods may leave gaps in a tuning where the piano scale and/or partials change, but now we can easily compensate. Lean how to use the DOB control like the experts. If the customer forgot to mention that they need a Werckmeister III temperament for the concert, easily create the tuning while following the aural sequence that you are most comfortable with. Overcome obstacles while keeping your schedule intact.

Advanced Reyburn Cybertuner Techniques
Instructor: Dean Reyburn
Level:  All

RCT’s more powerful features will be shown: using RCT’s graphs and spreadsheets to analyze and predict the sound of a tuning; Custom EQ which lets you preview aural intervals and micro-adjust the stretch of each octave; Limits, which auto-modifies a tuning if it detects scales problems, e.g., on a spinet; Pianalyzer which displays volume, sustain, pitch, and inharmonicity of 16 partials for any note; converting to one of RCT’s 57 built-in Historical Temperaments or creating your own.

Tuning With The Verituner
Instructor: Dave Carpenter
Level:  All

Description: See up close how to take advantage of the unique tuning features of both the Verituner 100 and the new Verituner Pocket. We will demonstrate how to perform pitch raises, fine tuning, setting standard pitch, temperament, custom stretch styles, and saving tunings. Learn the best practices for using the Verituner's exclusive inharmonicity measuring technology to give the best tuning on any piano with the fewest steps.
